RuPaul's Drag Race

Renewed MTV

Renewed. The premiere date hasn’t been announced.

Pick three queens and collect on every maxi win, every lip sync survived and every Smackdown comeback, all the way to the crown.

Each week drag queens compete in a mini challenge, a maxi challenge and a themed runway, and the judges name a winner and the bottom queens. The bottom two perform a Lip Sync for Your Life and the loser is eliminated, though twists can bring queens back. The finale ends with a lip sync for the crown, and RuPaul picks the winner.

How it will work

The proposed format for when RuPaul's Drag Race opens. Details can change before launch.

  1. Start a party

Create a private party and invite friends with a link or code.

  2. Pick three queens

Choose three queens from the announced cast before Episode 1 is released. Picks are locked once you submit them.

  3. Score every runway

Your queens earn points for wins, top placements and surviving lip syncs, and lose points in the bottom or when they sashay away.

  4. Race to the crown

Eliminated queens can still score in the Smackdown, and the finale pays the most. Highest total wins the party.

Rules

The proposed rulebook for when RuPaul's Drag Race opens.

Your picks

Pick three queens. Picks are locked once you submit them, and several players can pick the same queen.

Pick deadline

Picks lock at the first official US release of Episode 1. Every queen scores from Episode 1.

Official results only

Only aired results count, never leaks or rumored casts. Only placements the show states out loud score; unstated high or low critiques don't.

Lip syncs

Winning a Lip Sync for Your Life is +4, and both queens get it in a double shantay. A top-two lip sync for the win decides the +6 win instead.

Split weeks

If a queen is named in the bottom in one episode and lip-syncs in the next, the -3 counts in the first episode and the lip-sync result in the second.

Elimination

Sashaying away is -10 on top of the -3 for the bottom. In a double sashay, both queens get -10.

Saves and returns

A queen saved or brought back gets +6 and scores normally again. A save in the same episode as a lost lip sync nets -4.

After elimination

Eliminated queens can still earn Smackdown points (+2 per round won, +5 for winning it) and Miss Congeniality (+5).

Finale

Every finalist gets +10, the final two get +5 for the lip sync for the crown, and the winner gets +20. Queens cut in the finale aren't penalized.

Quits, disqualifications and medical exits

Quitting or being disqualified is -10 and ends all scoring. A medical exit is 0.

Ties

Tied players share a rank. A host can turn on a tiebreaker before the party starts: best finish by a queen, then most maxi wins.

Late joiners

After the deadline, a host can let late joiners pick from queens still in the competition. Their points start with the next episode.

Corrections

Fixed results are voided and replaced with a logged reason, and only players whose score or rank changed are notified.

Independent fan game

Pick the Cast isn't affiliated with MTV, World of Wonder or the show, and never runs or relays official votes. No entry fees, wagering or cash prizes.
